Be Single Minded

Strangers

Hebrews 11:13-14 (NKJV)

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.”

How comfortable we can become in this world. We grow accustomed to the good and the bad. One day is full of work and the next is full of play. Some days are full of surprises and others contain the same challenges life always brings. Life goes on and on and on, until it doesn’t.

Today’s thought is meant to be a reminder that this world really isn’t our home. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are strangers here. We shouldn’t get too comfortable with how things are. This is not the end. We have another destiny. How we live our few days on this dirt, the legacy we leave, any impact we make, will give evidence as to how much we believe this to be true, evidence to the strongest tug on our heart.

Remember to love God. Remember to hold the things in this world loosely. Set your eyes on God’s promises. Set your mind on His way. Embrace His truth. Tune your heart to His voice. This world is really not our home. We are just passing through.  We are strangers.
