Isaiah 9:5 (NIV®)
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
What do you need this Christmas? I mean really need? I imagine if you take time to sit before God, something will come to mind. Do you need forgiveness? Do you need peace? Do you need help? Do you need love? If you sit quietly before God and listen, one significant heart need will surface.
Now that you know what that is, hold it up to God. Offer it to Him. Our gifts don’t have to be perfect, they never can be, but they have to be sincere. So hand it over. Give your need to God and turn loose of it. You’ve tried too long to fill in the gaps yourself. It’s not working and it never will, until you give it all the Him.
I am not promising immediate resolution for you, though you may experience that. I am promising that if you will give all of yourself to God, including your needs, He will meet You in His way and in His time, and He will carry you through… but you have to give it all to Him.
This verse reminds us that when God came to make a way for us to be saved, He did so as a gift. It says a son is “given”. That gift is a King, Prince, Counselor, Father and God. Do you need someone to rule over the madness in your life? Do you need good and wise counsel? Do you need a loving Father who will never leave you? Do you need Him to speak peace into your heart? Do you need the hand of God in your life? He is whatever you need and He will meet the need of your heart.
Christ came for you at Christmas. Why don’t you give yourself to Him this Christmas. Make that exchange. He has given all of Himself for you. What is your Christmas gift to Him?
