Be Single Minded

Details, Details

Matthew 17:27 (NKJV)

“Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

Have you ever thought about how Jesus made the coin appear in the mouth of that fish? Did he have some fisherman accidentally drop it in the water and then have the fish try to swallow it? Did He just create the coin and put it there just before Peter caught it? Do we really care as long as we have the coin?

Have you thought about how this world spins in orbit? Have you thought about the intricacies in a human cell? Have you thought about what has brought you to this place in your life today? What do you think is needed to get you to the place you need to be tomorrow… ten years from now… twenty?

We all have hopes and plans. We all do a certain amount of work to accomplish those goals. In the end, no matter what we do or try, I want you to think about the fact that everything really has to fall in place for those goals to be achieved. Maybe you met the right person who gave you entrance into the job of your dreams. Maybe someone invited you to a new place you now call home. Maybe you met a total stranger that turned out to be the love of your life.

Maybe nothing turned out like you wanted. Perhaps those dreams are long gone but still, you find yourself in a good place. For some, you have found contentment. For others, you live in a somewhat uncomfortable place, thinking that something is still missing because, well, things just don’t seem quite right.

Today, wherever this writing finds you, let me encourage you to trust the hand of God in it all. Believe that His hand has been active in your life and notice His provision for you. Whether comfort in hard times, or a clear and straight path through others, He has had it all in His hands and has orchestrated it all for your good.

He may use the natural laws in this life so that all your steps seem to be right and in order. He may overrule those natural laws to bring you to the specific and special place where you now stand. In either instance, He has always been with you. Some days waiting for you to notice and reach out to Him. Some days giving blessings that you probably didn’t notice. But if he can make a coin appear in the mouth of a fish, or cause a man to walk before you with a pot of water (Luke 22:10), or tell you where to find a new colt (Matthew 21:1-2) or any other of the myriad of “small” miracles he performed then and now; He surely has taken care of you.  He has always been there and He is with you today, working out everything in your life that will put you in a place made specifically for you and one that will glorify Him. A place where you could never be unless He worked out the details just for you.
