Psalm 18:2a (NKJV)
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;”
There is so much happening in the world today. If you’re like me, there is a lot happening in your individual life as well. When both are added together, it can be overwhelming. Our economy, our borders, the virus, media, leadership…. then our friends, family, work… sometimes it seems like everything is falling down around us.
It is as if we are standing on a huge rock in the middle of the ocean and the waves and storm are all around us… but we still stand. In times when everything is disintegrating before our eyes, we look to HIM. He is our security, our protection, our provision, our health, our companionship, our life, our hope, our portion, and our destination. You can fill in the blank if I missed something important to you… He is ALL.
Today is a reminder that we don’t rely on any of those things. We have not yet reached the day when there is no more sin, sorrow, sadness, or tears. We know that ultimately God is in control of the “big world” things and the “our world” things… and none of them stress Him out. His plans for us are for good. We submit to Him, stand, and let Him handle it.
I have been playing this song in my head all week. I’ve included a link if you want to listen. May you be strengthened and encouraged in your journey. GOD IS OUR ROCK!
God Is My Rock
I will never be afraid
God is my rock
I will never be afraid
God is my salvation
Whom shall I fear? (No one)
No one can harm me
When the Lord God is near (No one)
God is my rock (God is my rock)
God is my rock
I will never be afraid (never)
God is my rock (be afraid)
I will never be afraid (never)
God is my salvation (be afraid)
Why should I run? (Why should I run?)
No one can harm me (no one can)
And I shall overcome (harm me)
God is my rock
God is my rock
God is my rock (God is my rock)
God is my rock (God is my rock)
God is, God is
My ROCK!
