Be Single Minded

At All Times

Psalms 34:1 (NKJV)

“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Today I write a reminder to bless the Lord.  On more than one occasion this week, I have needed to be reminded. The little word “all” in this scripture sounds impossible but I’ve learned that the Bible doesn’t instruct us to do things we can’t do.

In times of fear, shame, need, want, trouble, or vulnerability, we are to bless the Lord. In times of confidence and success, we bless Him as He is our boast. The entire chapter walks through a variety of scenarios in life.  No matter where we find ourselves we are to trust Him and fear Him. We are to walk in obedience and truth. We are to seek Him, and in the process, no matter what life throws at us, we are to bless Him.

What makes it possible to activate this verse in our lives? We can bless Him because of who God is. We remember how He has been faithful in the past. We trust His provision and promises for our future. We look to Him today and bless Him because of His knowledge, power and presence.

The most amazing thing is, if we take the time and make the effort to bless the Lord, even and especially when we don’t feel like it, we are the ones who benefit. It’s not like the Lord needs a good word from us. The simple choice to bless Him when things are good or bless Him when things are bad puts us where we belong; humbly in His presence.  Blessing Him blesses us.  Why would we choose to do anything except bless Him at all times.
