More Faith

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

When Paul wrote this, he was talking about the process of salvation. How will anyone ever believe in Jesus if they are not told? Someone has to share the good news of the word of God and then, upon hearing that news, faith can grow.

That being said, I have learned that the word of God does more than lead us to salvation. Once we have accepted God’s salvation, we must stay in the word for our faith to grow.

When I am struggling, my first move should be that of digging into the word of God. It should be yours too. The Bible has the unique ability to speak to our spirit, to correct our thoughts, to encourage us in belief and to guide us in next steps. The Holy Spirit solidifies the truth we read in our hearts and our spirit is strengthened.  When we are tempted to not believe in God’s care for us, His provision for us, His awareness of our circumstances, His willingness to deliver us or anything else that His word promises, His word is exactly where we need to be.

If you are struggling, take inventory. Do you need a retreat to time alone in God’s word? If so, make that your goal. It is not rocket science. If we need help in our faith, His word is where we need to be and is what we need to hear. It is our primary source if we need more faith.
